Camellias in Bloom

Hello Everyone!  I hope you're having a wonderful Spring season thus far.  It's really warming up here- the temperature has been in the low to mid 80's this week.  Rain is due in tomorrow evening and it's supposed to linger through the weekend.  I'm still working on my flower beds so I plan to get up early and get as much done as possible before all the expected rain arrives.

The Camellia shrubs are in bloom right now and they are lovely.  Thought I'd share of few shots of them...

They're still in pots right now, but I've decided where I want to plant them. Camellias prefer a shady spot, away from harsh wind.  Other than that, they're easy to please.  In some countries (China, being one), the delicate petals of the camellia are said to represent the "spirit of a lady" and the calyx (the part of the flower where the petals attach) represents a young man, according to Living Arts Originals website. Because the calyx falls from the camellia plant with the petals when the flower expires, the camellia is said to represent the undying love between a man and a woman.

I hope you have a great Thursday!  Good night for now.
